In 2004 Don Hodgins and Dennis O'Connor rounded up some colleagues from the Portrait and Life Drawing groups  of the Salt Spring Island Painters' Guild to have themselves a summer art show in the open space gallery at ArtSpring.

Here are the original "Guild Guys" at their first show in August 2004: Kees Wouters, Don Hodgins, Dennis O'Connor, Jack Avison and Milan Stevulak.  Sadly, Dennis O'Connor passed away late in 2006.  He's fondly remembered and missed.

They displayed artwork representing the broad interests of the group - some finished pieces, some more experimental - with subjects ranging from portrait and figurative, to landscape and floral.

Shows were held in 2005, when Rob Holmes joined the fraternity,  and again 2006 featuring the original quintet.  Then the Guys decided to catch their breath, retool their techniques and look ahead to another show a little down the road.  Stay tuned; we'll let you know when and where.
